Northern Area D Water Conservation Education Program Showing Promise

Coastal Fire Centre has announced a campfire ban
Effective at noon on Wednesday, July, 18, 2018, a campfire ban will be put in place.  The decision comes amid heat warnings from Environment Canada.  The ban will apply to all of the areas within the Coastal Fire Centre, which includes Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland.  Exceptions include Haida Gwaii and the “fog zone” running down the western coast of Vancouver Island.  The CFC said that gas, propane and briquette cooking stoves will be permitted. So there are still ways campers can recreate the campfire experience.  learn more

Wood Stove Rebate
You still have time to take advantage of the $250 rebate under the Strathcona Regional District’s Wood Stove Exchange Program. The rebate is being offered on a first-come, first-served basis to property owners that want to swap an old wood stove for a new, low emission model.  Learn more
